Antikmärkte im Valle d'Itria: Schatzsuche am Sonntag
Neben den Bauernmärkten gibt es ein zweites Einkaufserlebnis, das wir nicht missen möchten: die Antikmärkte unserer Region. Einmal im Monat verwandeln sich Plätze und Alleen in ein Freilichtmuseum zum Anfassen, mit Ständen voller Keramik, altem Leinen, Messinglampen, Landhausmöbeln und Fundstücken, deren Geschichte man nur erahnen kann. Wir flanieren, stöbern, feilschen ein wenig, und fast immer fährt am Ende doch etwas mit nach Hause.
Wann und wo gestöbert wird
Die Antikmärkte finden monatlich statt, immer sonntags. Merken könnt ihr euch die Faustregel: zweiter Sonntag Ostuni, dritter Sonntag die anderen.

Was ihr findet, und wie ihr handelt
Typische Beute: handbemalte Keramik aus Grottaglie, altes Leinen mit Monogramm, Messing und Kupfer aus Landküchen, Flaschen in Apothekergrün und hin und wieder ein Stück, das aussieht, als hätte es schon immer in einen Trullo gehört. Handeln gehört dazu und darf freundlich sein: Ein Lächeln, ein ernst gemeintes Gegenangebot, und meistens trefft ihr euch in der Mitte.
Auch hier gilt: früh kommen. Die Händler bauen ab etwa 8 Uhr auf, die besten Stücke wechseln am Vormittag den Besitzer, und gegen Mittag klingt der Markt bei einem Aperitivo auf der Piazza aus.

Alongside the farmers' markets there is a second shopping experience we would not want to miss: the antiques markets of our region. Once a month, squares and avenues turn into an open-air museum you can touch, with stalls full of ceramics, old linen, brass lamps, farmhouse furniture and finds whose stories you can only guess at. We stroll, browse, haggle a little, and almost always something ends up coming home with us.
When and where to browse
The antiques markets take place monthly, always on Sundays. The rule of thumb: second Sunday Ostuni, third Sunday the others.

What you will find, and how to haggle
Typical spoils: hand-painted ceramics from Grottaglie, old linen with monograms, brass and copper from farmhouse kitchens, bottles in apothecary green and, every now and then, a piece that looks as if it had always belonged in a trullo. Haggling is part of the fun and may be friendly: a smile, a sincere counter-offer, and you will usually meet in the middle.
Here too: come early. Traders set up from around 8 am, the best pieces change hands in the morning, and around noon the market winds down over an aperitivo on the piazza.

Accanto ai mercati contadini c'è una seconda esperienza a cui non vogliamo rinunciare: i mercatini dell'antiquariato della nostra zona. Una volta al mese piazze e viali si trasformano in un museo a cielo aperto da toccare, con banchi pieni di ceramiche, lini antichi, lampade d'ottone, mobili di campagna e pezzi di cui si può solo immaginare la storia. Passeggiamo, curiosiamo, trattiamo un po', e quasi sempre qualcosa torna a casa con noi.
Quando e dove curiosare
I mercatini si tengono una volta al mese, sempre di domenica. La regola: seconda domenica Ostuni, terza domenica gli altri.

Le date possono variare con le stagioni, soprattutto in inverno. Chiedeteci prima della gita: sappiamo quale mercato vale il viaggio in ogni fine settimana.
Cosa si trova, e come si tratta
Bottino tipico: ceramiche dipinte a mano di Grottaglie, lini antichi con monogramma, ottone e rame delle cucine di campagna, bottiglie verde farmacia e ogni tanto un pezzo che sembra fatto per un trullo. Trattare fa parte del gioco e può essere gentile: un sorriso, una controproposta seria, e di solito ci si incontra a metà strada.
Anche qui vale: arrivare presto. I banchi aprono verso le 8, i pezzi migliori cambiano proprietario in mattinata, e verso mezzogiorno il mercato si chiude con un aperitivo in piazza.
